Risk Management and Artisan/Trade Contractors

In an ever challenging construction and building environment, WestPac saw an opportunity to better partner with our agents and integrate risk management services on top of our insurance product offerings. Our core specialty is, and will always be home builders, developers and trade contractors. We thus understand the construction industry's challenges with the risk transfer process, site safety, and general compliance. We also understand the adverse affect on our insureds and carriers when risk is not properly transferred. As a result, WestPac formed a new entity to solve all of these issues and provide our agents with the resources to tackle these challenges for their clients: Conquer Risk Management.

You can read more about Conquer below. We appreciate our agents' and carriers' continued support and are excited to offer Conquer's services in addition to our insurance products.

With a customer service minded approach, Conquer implements best practices to reduce your overall risk. These professionals perform a complete suite of risk management services, from subcontractor insurance review and certificate compliance to document storage. Every business is unique though, which is why each risk management strategy is tailored to each organization. In the event we can't offer a service crucial to you, we have a network of strategic partners also committed to help you conquer risk.

Introducing the Executive Team of WestPac/Virtus

Introducing the Executive Team of WestPac/Virtus:

WestPac and Virtus have emerged as the Rocky Mountain Region’s premier independent wholesale brokers. With a regional feel, our commercial insurance capabilities extend countrywide with binding, brokerage, and program facilities. Our industry knowledge, professional integrity, and superior service allow us to deliver refreshing customer experiences for our agency customers, but also profitable results for our carrier partners. Our leadership team is at the front of these efforts but strongly believe none of WestPac/Virtus’ successes are possible without the committed, tireless efforts of our team.

Rick Richter - President, WestPac

Rick’s career has several unique facets to it. After college, Rick initially joined a regional Workers’ Compensation carrier where he acted as a field underwriter in the Southern United States. Rick regularly reminisces of his first insurance job, notably the fact he put almost 100,000 miles on his company issued Ford LTD in his first year traveling his territory. From there, he had the opportunity to join Lloyd’s of London syndicate in London where he worked on reinsurance treaty arrangements for over four years.

After gaining this experience, Rick returned home to Denver to work with his father’s wholesale/MGA, Richter-Robb. As Richter-Robb eventually sold, he took a hiatus outside of insurance for almost 8 years where he ran a managed healthcare consulting company with several hundred employees until the company eventually sold in 2002.

Afterward, Rick’s heart brought him back into insurance and formed Western Pacific in 2003. His experience, diligent work ethic, and dedication to his employees have grown WestPac to where it is today.

Rick is recognized nationally as an insurance expert in the construction space, proving regularly his ability to produce profitable books of business. He actively testifies on behalf of the construction and insurance industries when various ballot measures are introduced and has a passion for construction because contractors “build the American dream”. Rick’s efforts were recognized in 2014 by Trusted Choice of Colorado with the “Company Person of the Year” award.

Rick is an outdoorsman at heart and a die-hard Denver Broncos fan. He has an unrivaled love for his two families which include his wife and seven children, but also WestPac employees.

Jake Goin - COO/CFO

Jake has been an integral part of developing and growing WestPac since 2004 after gaining his accounting experience from Metro State University and accounting positions at other organizations.

He is currently COO & CFO of both WestPac and Virtus; running daily operations and making sure our employees and clients are well taken care of. He also brokers specific accounts as well to keep his knowledge of the industry sharp and up to date.

Jake enjoys mountain living in Evergreen with his beautiful wife and two great kids.

Jake is a Colorado native and a Bronco fan and spends his free time hunting, fly fishing and mountain biking.

Eric Richter - President, Virtus / VP, Marketing WestPac/Virtus

Eric joined WestPac in January of 2009, shortly after his graduation from the University of Oregon in the Spring of 2008. His studies allowed him to quickly adapt to his role at Western Pacific as a Marketing Representative, tasked with the development of retail agency business.

After a few years of marketing Eric also became intricately involved in underwriting and producing business as well. He eventually moved vertically into a managerial role and developed a larger marketing team for Western Pacific, and was integral in the initial startup of Virtus. Eric now acts as President of Virtus meanwhile still oversees the marketing functions of both companies where he is charged with agency, carrier and program development . Eric’s efforts were recognized by industry peers in 2013 when he received Trusted Choice of Colorado’s “Company Marketing Person of the Year” award, followed by the “Young Insurance Professional of the Year” award in 2014. Gloria has worked in the excess and surplus lines insurance industry since 2007. In 2018 Gloria joined WestPac/Virtus, sharing an appreciation for company values that run through deep Colorado roots.

Gloria and her husband Bill are the proud grandparents of Natalie and enjoy taking walks with her and seeing things through her eyes. The family rounds out nicely with daughters Veronica and Andrea, son-in-law Joe and two lovable rescues Chewy and Teddy.

Carlie Genova - VP, Operations & General Manager

She joined the Executive team in July of 2019 and leads our amazing service team and implements procedures and trainings to ensure we are delivering the highest level of service to our agents. One of her many roles, as Service Manager, allows her to view agents’ business needs from all perspectives. This is invaluable as she helps our agents solve problems and write new business.

Her career in the industry has afforded her many wonderful opportunities. She values the relationships that she's built over the years and feels fortunate for the opportunity to work alongside so many incredible humans.

As a Colorado native, she enjoys all things outdoors, especially when her furry four-legged companion, Lily, can come along!

Dalany Kim - VP, Process Excellence & Compliance

Dalany Kim has been in the insurance industry for 16 years and has held various roles that have contributed to her current position as VP, Process Excellence & Compliance. After receiving her college degree, she began her career in Life insurance before switching over to Property & Casualty Insurance. She spent a little over a decade on the agency side with two top-rated national brokerage firms. Dalany was a Sales & Marketing Consultant focused on branding efforts before she transitioned into a client management role handling day-to-day servicing needs of insureds. Through client servicing, she built relationships with carriers and vendors, developed coverage knowledge, and helped managed her team’s workflow and processes. Dalany stepped into the insurance wholesale world when she joined WestPac in 2017 and hasn’t looked back.

The Accounting / Marketing / Risk Management Teams of WestPac/Virtus

WestPac & Virtus are lucky to have such a great and dedicated group of folks working with our customers and partners. Not only do they strive for excellence in all that they do, but each of them are dedicated to making sure everyone has what they need, when they need it.

Lorens Knudsen IV - Accounting Manager

After finishing his college education & basketball career at Western State College (now Western Colorado University), Lorens started his time at WestPac as an Intern in 2008. Lorens transitioned to the accounting department shortly after and has been there ever since.

Outside of work, Lorens loves spending his time with his wife Kacey and two boys, Lorens V and Cooper. He also enjoys the outdoors, playing golf, basketball, softball, and paddleboarding.

Julie Tedder - Accounting

Julie is a second generation Coloradan, born and raised in southwest Denver. Her background includes human resources, accounting, and employee benefits. She joined Western Pacific in February of 2019, and loves working in the accounting department as an accounting assistant.

Her biggest passion is travel, especially to coastal areas and Hawaii, where she loves snorkeling, the beach, and the salty air. She also loves history and traveling to historic sites, and if they include an ocean nearby, all the better! Her second favorite loved destination is her family cabin in southwestern Colorado where there are many lakes, hiking and 4-wheel drive trails, and the best star-gazing in the state. She lives in Highlands Ranch with her husband Bill and their 2 dogs, Brodie (an English Crème Golden Retriever) and Nikki (a Silky Terrier).

The other loves of her life are her 4 children and her 8 grandchildren (7 grandsons and her first granddaughter born just 6 months ago!), all of whom live in Colorado. She will be welcoming her first great-grandchild (a boy) in August!

Alexandra Vacante - Marketing Representative / UT Broker

Alexandra grew up in the wonderful state of New Jersey (she really misses the beach!) and went on to college at Towson University were she was a proud cheerleader for the Tigers and graduated with a degree in Communications. After sticking around Baltimore for a few years post-college, she decided to move to Denver for the Colorado sunshine and to be closer to her sister.

After the move to Denver in 2015, she got her first opportunity in the insurance industry, and in 2017 she found her home at WestPac and Virtus. She is grateful for all of the opportunities she continues to have at WestPac and Virtus, being the primary Marketing Representative for the state of Colorado and now growing her own book of business as a Broker for Utah.

Outside of work she enjoys traveling back to the east coast, taking advantage of the mountains here in Colorado, coaching gymnastics, staying loyal to her New York sports teams, spending time with her niece, and raising her new puppy!

Steve Brown - Marketing Representative

Steve joined the WestPac/Virtus team in 2018 in their Marketing Dept., as an excuse to work with his best friend once again. New to Insurance, Steve quickly completed both his P&C licensing and obtained his CRIS designation in an effort to learn as much as he could about this new industry. He has been in Sales, Sales Management, Marketing and Business Development his entire career and has done everything from cold calling for prospects, account management, leading sales and marketing teams, being a GM, complete brand overhauls and owning his own businesses. Steve leads the marketing and business development efforts for WestPac/Virtus in Arizona, Kansas and Missouri and is very involved with the state trade associations in these states, and in Colorado.

Getting the opportunity to interact with clients on a daily basis and being able to assist them so they can achieve their goals is why he entered the sales field at such a young age and why he continues 20 years later.

Outside of work, Steve enjoys grooming his green thumb, golfing (when his back allows), working on his car and spending time with his beautiful wife and daughter.

Nick Bredsnajder - Risk Management Coordinator

Born and raised in Colorado, Nick grew up in, and still resides in Lakewood, with his beautiful family. Prior to making the jump into insurance and consulting, Nick spent much of his career managing a midsize construction company that specialized in stream reconstruction, oil field reclamation, Department of Transportation work across many states, including grading and reclamation on most airports in Colorado.

He soon realized the importance of insurance and risk transfer first hand which led him to explore the insurance industry. Now he now runs WestPac's sister company, Conquer Risk Management. Conquer offers a comprehensive approach to Risk Management ranging from certificate of insurance tracking, contract review, to onsite safety consulting.

Much of his free time is spent enjoying the mountains with his family, hunting in the fall, doing cross-fit, and riding dirt bikes with his kids.
